John Burns is the Prime/General Contractor for Verizon in performing fiber optic cable underground infrastructure engineering, design, permitting, construction fiber optic installation, splicing and testing. The majority of the various telecommunication projects take place in the City of Chicago. These projects require close coordination with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Verizon Wireless and Verizon Business and other utility owners to ensure the projects are completed on-time and the safety of the traveling public is maintained. These projects require very careful excavation in complex work environments to not damage any existing facilities as well as expand Verizon’s fiber network.
