About This Project
John Burns served as Prime Contractor for ground up construction of a new Metra train station in New Lenox. Construction operations included site demolition, earthwork, excavation, footings/foundations, structural steel, masonry, roofing, aluminum windows, ornate interior finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, site restoration, landscaping and parking lot construction. Construction of new train station with associated new inbound and outbound platforms. Constructed the mill and overlay of parking lots and installed new light fixtures throughout the station. Constructed a new sidewalk, curb and gutter as well as ADA Ramp and landscaping throughout. John Burns worked closely with the design team and end users to deliver desired architectural details. The New Lenox Metra Station was constructed during COVID resulting in numerous supply chain issues. John Burns worked with subcontractors and suppliers to work out-of-sequence and implement temporary measures to maintain progress and minimize impacts to the schedule and ultimately Metra riders.
