John Burns, General Contractor, completed the rehabilitation of the existing Lombard Metra Station. Scope of work included site work for demolition and removal of existing shelters, light poles and retaining walls. John Burns installed the new pedestrian tunnel and earth retention system. John Burns constructed new retaining walls, pedestrian ramps, ice melt system, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Coordinating the pedestrian traffic, vehicular traffic and train outages to accomplish the tunnel bore created inconveniences for all parties involved. John Burns worked with Metra operations and the Village of Lombard to minimize disruptions to all stakeholders. As a result of John Burn’s robust pre-planning, the tunnel work was completed on-time and minimized disruption.
