John Burns removed and replaced the aging diamond crossove track and eight expansion gaps in the CTA Blue Line’s Kimball Subway. The work, completed over nine 54-hour weekend shutdowns with full service restored after each, required meticulous planning to minimize disruptions. This critical upgrade, including the replacement of the original 50-year-old Belmont crossover, supports increased ridership and ensures continued reliable service on one of the CTA’s busiest lines.
